Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. Deuteronomy 10:16-17
As I read the scriptures more and more I am seeing the earthly pictures God has given us of heavenly things.
If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? John 3:12
Circumcision was given as a covenant to Abraham.
As we receive Jesus, as we look to the promises to come we receive circumsicison of the heart and ears.
We aren’t physically marked by circumcision. Our hearts are marked. As I study eternity, one thing that has been really standing out to me is the fact that we come into this world naked, and we leave naked (Job 1:21)
God shows no partiality. He doesn’t care about our wealth, or our popularity, the car we drive, or our status in this world. He doesn’t care about all the works we did for the praise of men. The only thing we leave this world with is our hearts.
I have this image in my mind this morning of us holding out our offering to God. Our very own hearts. And the question circling in my my mind is:
Am I going to hand God a heart that is wholly His or am I going to hand him a diseased heart full of sin?
Will God say to me: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ Matthew 25:23
Or will he say ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ Matthew 7:23
