Contrary Desires

Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you. Genesis 3:16

If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it. Genesis 4:7

Contrary is: opposite in nature, direction, or meaning.

Sins desire is contrary to us. And we MUST rule over it. If not it will move us away from our purpose and who God intended us to be.

The curse of woman makes our desires contrary to our husbands. The desire of a woman will often manifest as opposition to our husband. We must rule over this desire.

Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you. Genesis 3:16

We can’t just ignore this verse, or brush it aside. As women we have to be on guard against this desire. God gives us clear commands as women. Gods commands are not burdensome, they are given to us for our protection, for our good, and for his glory:

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Ephesians 5:22

Submission to the commandments of God, by submitting to our husbands instead of giving into the curse and opposing our husbands gives us a true picture of Garden Living.

As women we were created, in the Garden, as gift to man, we were created to be helpers.

A mark of woman who has submitted her life to God, is a woman who embraces her role as helper, and who knows that she has to rule over and fight against the desire to control and command her husband.

Adam was created to lead, to rule, to have dominion over the created earth. Eve was made as a helper, to support him in the process of multiplying and filling the earth.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28

Gods plan from the beginning has always been:

That the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. Habakuk 2:14
